Wednesday 13 December – Gorgeous walk from Greenstone Hut out to the carpark. Lots of waterfalls!
It took me about 3.5 hours and I enjoyed a snooze in the sun while waiting for my 12.45pm shuttle.
The shuttle ride to Glenorchy via Kinloch, and the Dart River was fantastic. The driver gave a running commentary including pointing out where scenes from movies had been shot.
Breathtaking and awesome scenery…. I am keen to return next year to do more tramps in the area.
I had 10 minutes wait at Glenorchy for a transfer to the Queenstown bus – just enough time to grab a takeaway cheese roll and cookie.
The official TA position is that it is not necessary to walk the route because Queenstown is about the same latitude as the road end, and it would simply be one long road walk anyway.
