Sunday 17 December – Easy walk down from Fern Burn Hut through beech forest along the true right of the Fern Burn (creek). Lots of cascades and waterfalls.

Over a bit of grassy farmland / conservation area to the Fern Burn Carpark and along a gravel road to Lake Wānaka – Glendhu Bay.

I had a liesurely lunch break at the Glendhu “Cafe”/Camp Store – delicous mince and cheese pie washed down with a frosty cold Coke Zero.

The rest of the walk to Wānaka was along the lake. I enjoyed lots of rests along the way in the sun. People were very friendly and chatty.
