Friday 22 December – Half zero day…. Walked 10km from Tin Hut to Birchwood Road and hitchhiked to Lake Ōhau Lodge.

Within 5 minutes of reaching Birchwood Road a car had pulled over to offer me a lift. They took me to their campsite near the main road, gave me a real coffee and tips on how to hitch hike.

Within 5 minutes of sticking my thumb out on the main road I had a lift to Lake Ōhau Lodge.
