Friday 29 December – Walked through tangly tussock and over a not so steep scree slope from Royal Hut to Crooked Spur Hut.

Beautiful stark scenery with the bald mountain-hills and rocky creeks.

Great bunch of people at Crooked Spur Hut – including a trio of locals on a hunting trip. They shared chocolate, biscuits and whiskey. Yum!
