Thursday 4 January – Good 23km walk from Hamilton Hut over, beside and above the Harper River, around Mt Bruce and down through pine forest past Bealey Hut and along SH73 to Bealey Hotel.

Rain forecast for Friday and Saturday, so I am waiting in Arthur’s Pass until Sunday to continue my walk as the next stretch has heaps of river crossings.
